Join Swan at the Boating Club in Scalloway at 10:00. After your safety briefing, you will begin your sail along the west coast of Shetland where we will visit islands and coastline areas, making the most of the wind and tides to plan the best route.
We may visit Foula, Papa Stour or Vaila. Depending on time and weather, there may also be time to visit Skeld or Walls and the smaller uninhabited islands in and around the Scalloway voe. You will experience wonderful views of sea stacks, spectacular rugged cliffs, tranquil bays, pebble beaches, and extraordinary sea caves. We will berth in a different place each of the four nights on board.
A voyage on Swan is very much a hands-on experience - you are part of her crew, and work as a team to make your voyage happen. All tasks are shared and everyone joins in, from the most to the least experienced. For more details of what to expect on board please refer to our Welcome Aboard leaflet.
Included in the price of this trip are sailing instruction, accommodation and all meals for the duration of your stay. Please note you will be required to bring a sleeping bag and pillow.
There are basic waterproofs onboard, however you may feel more comfortable in your own wet weather gear. Please ensure you wear sensible footwear, with good grips, and warm clothing, and don't forget your camera.

Ahoy there – Join the Swan for Summer 2027! Shetland’s own Tall Ship, Swan, has an exciting opportunity for a qualified Skipper to join us for the 2027 summer season. This will offer a fantastic experience sailing round Shetland, North East Scotland, and international journeys to the Faroe Islands. The role would suit a someone keen on adventure who understands the importance and value of sail training to our younger sailors, and the quality of experience for our public sailing trips. The position may be available as a job share opportunity for the right candidate.
