Join us for a weekend of fresh Shetland seafood, which will include fishing for your supper! Sailing from Unst, we will visit some of the best fishing grounds around Shetland's North Isles with our expert skipper, and local fisherman, Scott Sandison.

We are taking the Swan back to her roots with a weekend dedicated to fishing and seafood. While we will have a store of food, you and your crew mates will be responsible for catching the bulk of the seafood you will enjoy over the weekend - possibly with the threat of a tin of corned beef on deck as an incentive! Our skipper for the trip, Scott Sandison, is a successful local fisherman, and will do his very best to get you to the right locations for a variety of fishy delights.

Boarding the Swan at 10am Friday morning, your stay will begin with a comprehensive safety briefing including how to work the lines on deck and set the sails. We will then put this into practice, enjoying the Swan under sail while we find locations to try out the fishing rods and see what we can catch for supper. We will then cook up what we catch and spend the night getting to know your crew mates before turning in for a good night’s sleep.

Saturday will begin with a hearty breakfast; before raising the sails and further exploring the Northern Isles and fishing grounds. On Sunday, you will complete your trip by heading back to Uyeasound and disembarking in the late afternoon - having, hopefully, enjoyed a variety of the finest Shetland seafood over the weekend.

A voyage on Swan is very much a hands-on experience - you are part of her crew, and work as a team to make your voyage happen. All tasks are shared and everyone joins in, from the most to the least experienced. For more details of what to expect on board please refer to our Welcome Aboard leaflet.

Included in voyage

Included in the price of this trip are sailing instruction, accommodation and all meals for the duration of your stay (although it will be up to all of the crew to catch much of the seafood we eat!). There are waterproofs onboard, however you may feel more comfortable in your own wet weather gear. For further details on what is included, and what to bring with you, please refer to our kit list.

Please note: You may need to board and/or disembark the Swan via a vertical pier ladder. Ensure you wear sensible footwear, with good grips, and warm clothing, and don't forget your binoculars, fishing gear and camera.
