Join the Swan for a 5 hour trip exploring the harbour and coasts around Shetland's capital, Lerwick.

Trip duration: 11am - 4pm

Joining the Swan in Lerwick at 11am our crew will give a comprehensive safety briefing, including how to work the lines on deck and set the sails, before we make our way out into the harbour to explore the scenic coasts around the area.

As a busy harbour, you may see a range of activity, including fishing boats, cruise ships, oil industry traffic, the Bressay interisland ferry and many more large and small vessels. The Lerwick waterfront includes a range of buildings, from the sandstone buildings built in the 18th century to the new fish market, opened in 2021. Buildings of note include the Lodberry (traditional waterside merchant's store, shop, workshop and house) made famous as the home of Jimmy Perez in the BBC TV series Shetland, The Shetland Museum and Archives and Mareel Arts Venue. On the other side of the harbour is Bressay, with its Stevenson Lighthouse, and beyond the harbour there are a range of bays and coasts to explore.

Our experienced skipper will decide the exact route on the day, to make the best use of the weather, wind, and our incredible wildlife and scenery. You will be well entertained during your trip by taking an active role in sailing the Swan, including hauling on ropes, taking a turn on the helm, and keeping a lookout, as well as spotting all the wildlife on offer. We will return to port to disembark in Lerwick at 4pm.

Please note:

You may need to board and/or disembark the Swan via a vertical pier ladder.

As lunch will not be provided on this trip, you may want to bring a pack lunch.
