Join us on a classic sailing adventure to explore Shetland’s west coast and Foula, the islands’ most isolated community, which lies around 15 nautical miles from the Shetland mainland.

Boarding in Scalloway on Friday 11 September at 10:00 / Disembark in Scalloway on Sunday 13 September at 16:00

Boarding the Swan at 10 am in the picturesque village of Scalloway, your day will begin with a comprehensive safety briefing including how to work the lines on deck and set the sails. We will then cast the lines and head out west to Foula. Our exact route will be decided on the day, to make the best use of the weather, wind, and our incredible wildlife and scenery.

Sailing around Foula you will see spectacular cliffs and wildlife, including breath taking views of Da Kame, Britain's second highest sea cliff, which stands at a staggering 1200 feet, on the West side of the island. These cliffs really are a sight to behold.

On arrival in Foula, you can explore the island, including one of the island’s highlights - the Sneck o’ da Smallie, a deep rock-cleft on the south-west coast.

There will be opportunity to see more of the westside coastline on the return journey which will again be calculated by the skipper to make the best use of tide, wind and weather; and the location of anchor or berthing for the second night on board will be determined on route.

A voyage on Swan is very much a hands-on experience - you are part of her crew, and work as a team to make your voyage happen. All tasks are shared and everyone joins in, from the most to the least experienced. For more details of what to expect on board please refer to our Welcome Aboard leaflet.
