Support

Swan could not operate without the wide support of those in our community, and further afield. Our dedicated volunteers manage, maintain, fundraise, promote and operate Swan. We have a range of both individuals and companies which donate goods and/or money to help with our annual costs, and have also received funds from a range of funding bodies and corporate sponsors to purchase capital items and/or deliver one off events and projects.

The Swan Trust would like to thank each and every one who has given time, resources and money to help maintain and operate the Swan, provide life changing youth sail training opportunities and keep our heritage alive.

We would like to thank Shetland Charitable Trust for its support towards our annual costs to operate and maintain Swan; Shetland Islands Council Coastal Communities Fund and Highlands and Islands Enterprise for funding assistance to deliver a three year community links and strategic priorities project, which started in June 2021; the Shetland LEADER Programme 2014-2020 for supporting a business development project which ended in February 2021; and John Goodlad, Author of The Cod Hunters book, for donating all royalties from his book to the Trust.

We would also like to highlight the fantastic support the Trust receives from Shetland’s seafood industry, including its pelagic fleet and many other fisheries and aquaculture related businesses. The industry coming together is very humbling, and shows the importance of the work of the Trust and its volunteers.

Below are a selection of commercial sponsors and funding organisations which help support us.
