Swan Suits Sponsored by Marine Contractor

The specialist contractor has had representation in Shetland since June when their team returned to complete the harbour dredging works for Lerwick Port Authority. This work will improve deep-water access and allow larger vessels to use Lerwick’s facilities across a range of sectors, including cruise, fishing and energy. As a regular user of the Albert wharf, a safely maintained access through the harbour is beneficial for Swan too.

The immersion suits, which are required by industry regulations to be provided to passengers when water temperatures are less than 10°C, have been supplied by LHD and printed with the Boskalis Westminster logo to acknowledge the generous financial support.

Swan Trust Chair, Mary Irvine, said “As a small charity working in an industry with very tight safety regulations, it is always a challenge for us to raise funds to purchase expensive equipment. Safety is our top priority for all passengers and crew and we are very grateful to Boskalis Westminster for their very kind assistance with this.

“The suits will be used by crew and passengers for many years to come and enable us to continue to provide valuable sail training experiences to the young and old alike.”

Representatives from Boskalis Westminster, Swan crew and Trustees met on board Swan this afternoon for a tour of the vessel, including recently upgraded forepeak facilities, and to formally gift the suits.
