Sail Training Shetland is supporting twelve young adults to experience an inspiring voyage at sea as trainees. Ten will train onboard Swan and two on Statsraad Lehmkuhl, taking part in The Tall Ships Races 2019, organised by Sail Training International.

Historic Faroese Boats, celebrating the centenary of the Faroese flag, were greeted by The Swan Trust and presented with a copy of The Cod Hunters, written by Swan Trustee John Goodlad, detailing the close fishing links between Shetland and Faroe. The Faroese boats included Westward Ho and Johanna.

The Vevoe Award for Swan trainee of the year has been presented to Theo Irvine, 16, from Burra, in recognition of the qualities he showed during the Nordic Sail trip to Norway, Sweden and Denmark in the summer.
