An opportunity has arisen to join our team in delivering the exciting and important activities of the Swan Trust SCIO - preserving Shetland's maritime heritage and the valuable sail training skills and experience.

The Swan crew teamed up with the Aith Lifeboat team last night for a towing training exercise in the waters around Aith.

Trustees and Swan Crew were delighted to be back on the water last week with the first of the public sails for the summer 2024 season. A full day and a half day trip was organised over a busy weekend with many visitors in the isles for the Shetland Folk Festival.

Sail Training Shetland are inviting applications from young people aged 15 – 25 to take part in The Tall Ships Races 2024 this summer, with a series of free Taster Day Sails available on Swan in April to whet the appetite in preparation.

The Swan Trust is delighted to announce the appointment of Emma Miller as its new Community Links Officer. Ms Miller brings a wealth of experience to the role, which will help the Swan continue in its mission to encourage Shetlanders onto the sea for sail training experiences.

Colleen Grains from South Whiteness has been named as the Vevoe Trophy winner for 2024 and was presented with the trophy last week at the Scalloway Boating Club.

Pupils from Baltasound in Unst and all three Yell schools had the opportunity to sail on board Swan in September thanks to generous financial support from Cooke Aquaculture.

Following an enjoyable Cruise in Company between Fredrikstad and Lerwick, the crew of the Swan were delighted to receive the award for 'Outstanding Contribution to the Cruise in Company' from Race Director, Magda Makowska.

The Swan has inspired a new range of Jewellery designed by Orkney based jewellers Aurora. The design of their Tall Ships collection is not only based on the Swan but also inspired by the Swan’s story of community, hope and renewal – being rescued, restored and relaunched as a sail training vessel.
