This week The Swan Trust waves farewell to Rory Johnson who has successfully skippered Swan during the summer 2014 and 2015 seasons.

Following a highly successful season in 2014 the Swan Trust is determined to have another active year in 2015. Rory Johnson, the young, enthusiastic skipper returns for another season and he will be joined again by Scott Sandison as mate.

Congratulations Scott! The Swan Trust has also appointed a Bosun for the season, Scott Sandison, to assist Richard (new Skipper).

In preparation for the start of another sailing season, the Swan Trust has appointed Richard Pattison as skipper.

The Swan Trust has presented its Vevoe Trophy for the first time, celebrating the achievements of its Sail Trainee of the Year 2011.

The SWAN will be participating in the 2011 Tall Ships Race event, which will take place in and between Waterford, Greenock, Lerwick, Stavanger and Halmstad.  

For the first time in a Tall Ships Race there will be an artist in residence on one of the vessels.

Tall Ships 2011 entrant SWAN, Shetland’s restored herring drifter, has been awarded the National Historic Ships, Flagship Award 2011 which carries a prize of £1000.

On Monday 20 September the SWAN embarked from Aberdeen, bound for Macduff, where she is now in the Macduff Shipyard for a major refit.
